SMA-Pasay 30 Years Na...Humihirit Pa! Part 1: MTV (A Flashback)

So this is a fact I am not ashamed of: I graduated from high school 30 years ago.

Please indulge me for a few moments of flashback. The last time we had a grand get-together was in December, 2009 for our Silver Anniversary. We aptly named the event MTV because I found out that it was during that time when music television became popular. Of course, for our event, we formulated our own spin to the meaning of MTV that is, Maryans Toward a Vision.

We only had six months of preparation and we were pressed for time. It was a good thing that five fabulous batch mates offered their time and talent to do the legwork, thus the Fab Five was born.

Thanks to these untiring ladies, we were able to have a very successful 25th reunion. Here are some highlights of the event:

 (1) Ms. Onette Bonuan Ventocilla and I hosted the affair.

(2) Friends seeing one another again after 25 years...

(3) Dr. Rosalina Espiritu-Picar gave the Welcome Remarks.

(4) Our special guests for the night: the RVM sisters and our dear teachers.

Mrs. Hidalgo
Mrs. de Vera, Ms. Barobaro, and Ms. Sanchez

(5) Batch '84 dancers proved that they could still groove!
Midette, Jocelyn, Mary Rose, Dorie, and Liza

(6) ...and the Glee Club members of the batch performed too! (Although we had a copy of the songs in front of us! LOL!)
Cecilie, Mary Rose, Me, and Arlene
(7) Everyone had a blast!

(8) We even gave out some awards to some batch mates. The one that brought the house down was the "Ganito Kami Noon, Ganito Pa Rin Kami Ngayon" Award, which was deservingly given to Luz Bantugon-Almaida. When she went up the stage wearing our high school uniform, everyone went bananas! Look, she hadn't changed a bit!

(9) We also started with the ceremonial turn-over of the Alumni Key, which Batch '85 willingly received from us.

(10) We donated some money to SMA.

It was indeed a night to remember to those who came. Not to brag but I heard it was one of the most well-attended Alumni Homecoming in the history of our high school.

Well, the pictures speak for themselves...

And because we felt that it was a milestone for our batch to rekindle our friendship, and we couldn't have enough of each other, we decided to push through with another reunion...after five years.

To be continued...
