My best-friend-in-IE/UPCC/yellow car-driver/Bayaya-landlord Egay Labor (hehehe--ang haba ng title!) posted new findings of UPCC 1990 classical repertoire. As I listened to them with my eyes closed, I was surprised at how amazing (ahem!) we sounded, considering the lack of high tech recording done 20 years ago--no autotune and padding, folks! I think the UPCC 1990's forte was our stand-up performances. Personally, I am just proud of myself for being able to memorize all those songs in Latin, German, and other Philippine dialects. How could I have mastered all of those classical what-nots when I never had a background in music nor sight reading? Promise, hindi ako nag-watermelon!!!! Now, I cannot recall most of the words, lest my alto parts anymore. I can only remember the feeling of standing in front of Mr. Paguio, engulfed and absorbed in making heavenly music with the UPCC.
Allow me to re-post our classical, religious, and Filipino repertoire. Try listening, even if you are not into Brahms, Wagner, Durante, et al. If there's such a thing as heaven on earth, you might feel it here.
Exultate Deo by Alessandro Scarlatti
Brazilian Psalm by Jean Berger
Vo Ist Ein So Herrlich Volk by Johannes Brahms
Alleluia by Roger Wagner
Swing Low, Sweet Chariot
Telebong
Dumbele by my high school Glee Club mentor, Rodolfo Delarmente
Isang Lahi by Vernee Saturno
And the winner in my heart--Matud Nila!!! I literally teared up while listening to it!
I'm just so, so proud to be a part of this group.
