Playing Dress Up

Kids nowadays can be both fun and scary at the same time. They are much taller, smarter, and more talented than us. They are now doing things which when we were at that age seemed to be exclusively done by adults only. They want to grow up fast, demanding to wear their mom’s Jimmy Choos ASAP.

My nieces Yani, Jolene, and Aya playing dress up. Sige, kyoot pa ito!

In the fashion world, there is this girl who is making 18-year old models fidget like insecure has-beens in their stilletos.  Her name is Thylane Lena Rose Blondeau, who, at 10 years old (hwat??), has been featured in a 15-page spread in last year’s December issue of the French Vogue.

Cranberry rouged lips touched by fingers...check!!!
Expressive eyes and pouting lips...check!!!

Reclining seductively on a tiger rug...check!
Equals a Supermodel at age 10!

So wait, does this mean that all ten-year-olds are now legit to wear heavy makeup and smolder and seductively pout in front of a photographer’s camera? We know that models are getting younger and younger...but a mere 10-year old? Now for me, that’s not only scary. That’s disturbingly creepy.

Yani, Jolene, Aya--remove those high heels--now!!!!
