You can’t please everybody. This has been my mantra ever since.
I think when we do things only because we want to make all people around us happy, we end up miserable ourselves. That's when happiness becomes more aloof. Sometimes, we struggle too hard to satisfy those around us. But the irony is, the harder we try, the more miserable we get. In the end, we feel dejected just because others sense the unhappy feelings that we have. A vicious cycle, if you ask me.
That’s why the happiest people on earth are those who love what they do just because they enjoy them. They are pleased because they produce results that satisfy the goals that they have set for themselves. They are content because they are surrounded by people who make them smile. They are blissful because they have accepted the way they look and exude confidence when they face the world.
I can’t say that I have already achieved this total Nirvana. But I gave up trying to control the level of happiness I could give other people. Instead, I focus on how to be happy myself. Then, like magic, I see happy people around me too.

Movie Recall: Annie (1982)
In the depths of the 1930's, Annie is a fiery young orphan girl who must live in a miserable orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy munitions industrialist, Oliver Warbucks. Quickly, she charms the hearts of the household staff and even the seemingly cold-hearted Warbucks cannot help but learn to love this wonderful girl. He decides to help Annie find her long lost parents by offering a reward if they would come to him and prove their identity. However, Miss Hannigan, her evil brother, Rooster, and a female accomplice, plan to impersonate those people to get the reward for themselves which put Annie in great danger.
My Review:
Although being an orphan is not an easy life, these orphanage looks like the girls are having fun, or making do with what they have. I have always liked musicals when I was younger, and the songs from this movie are catchy and entertaining. The movie's lead character, although not your usual pageant beauty child, is refreshing and precocious as Annie. Carol Burnett as Mrs. Hannigan is funny and obnoxious at the same time. Some parts of the movie may be sleep-inducing to children who will watch this, but then come the songs again, and every musical lover will again be up to its ears.
If only all children sang like Annie, none of them would be in want.
Trivia:
Aileen Quinn's red curly wig was so itchy that the property masters gave her a special comb with which to scratch her head.
Drew Barrymore auditioned for the role of Annie.
Jack Nicholson was originally signed to play Daddy Warbucks, but dropped out after the original producer left.
Sandy was played by two dogs. One, named "Bingo", did most of the dramatic scenes, and the other did the stunt work (such as jumping into the pool).
